The Minnesota
Miniature Horse Club

Who We Are --
What We Do

The Minnesota Miniature Horse Club was organized in 1986 by a group of families that had the common interest of Miniature Horses. The club has grown from the original 10 charter families to over 60 families in 1996. Today that number continues to soar with more people finding the Miniature Horse a part of their lives.

MMHC is affiliated with both the American Miniature Horse Association and the American Miniature Horse Registry and welcomes all Miniature Horse owners to the club.

MMHC has six membership meetings a year and board meetings are held as necessary. Officers are elected at the annual meeting. All members are encouraged to attend meetings and contribute their time and talents.

MMHC members raise and show some of the finest horses in the nation. Showing both locally and nationally, they have made their mark on the Miniature Horse industry. Having a miniature to love and care for rewards those that do not show. The Miniature Horse offers something for everyone.

A bi-monthly newsletter is published for the membership. This provides information about club activities, shows, and promotional opportunity for members.

To help educate members and others, MMHC holds a clinic, usually every other spring. Many interesting and informative topics are offered, as well as the opportunity for fellowship with other Miniature Horse owners. The mentor program is also available to new members. A sponsor will help guide participants with their first experiences with Miniatures. In addition, a "Fun Show" is held every other year (alternating with the clinic) and provides an opportunity for all members to show their horses for fun and to encourage fellowship. Several "fun" classes are included for the youth and those young at heart. The mentor program is very involved with this event.

Part of MMHC is to promote the miniature horse. By attending the Minnesota Horse Expo, members have the opportunity to showcase Miniature Horses to prospective buyers.

MMHC has several rewarding programs. The High Point program recognizes accomplishments in the show ring. The Futurity program offers breeders the opportunity to showcase their breeding program by showing the offspring. The Gelding Incentive offers monetary rewards for show success of geldings.

The Awards Banquet is held each year to present the High Point awards and the monetary rewards to the Futurity and Gelding Incentive participants. To complete thise event, an auction is held. Proceeds are donated to the club treasury.

MMHC welcomes all miniature horse owners to share their love of the miniature with us and the rest of the world!
