Pony Pals Riding Academy is a riding school for the very young. We specialize in introducing small children to the wonderful world of horses using miniature horses and ponies.
Our goal is to educate children on how to care for and interact with horses. Using miniature horses and ponies, we feel that the child will be more comfortable and gain confidence faster. We teach the children to respect the animals, each other and teachers, while building confidence and encouraging team work.
Miniature horses or ponies and kids are a natural fit. They see eye to eye on most things. This is a fun-filled, safe environment that will create lasting memories of ponies, friends and growing up. We have different size Miniature horses and ponies for the kids to use. The kids will be matched with the appropriate size horse or pony for their build and skill level. So as they grow and develop, they won't outgrow their project pony!
We work with children from ages 4 – 10 and help them prepare for entrance into more advanced riding programs like 4H and Pony Club.
We start with the basics of handling and grooming. From there we work on riding skills and driving skills. In addition to the hands on with the horse we also use games and other materials to teach the children about hippology and cover things like equipment, breeds, gaits, etc. With the idea that they will fully prepared to move onto 4H and Pony Club and be fully prepared to learn more intricate life skills that are taught in these programs.
